Spring-ish? Really?
Sadly, the sunny days seem to come just one at a time, closely followed by the rain. Never mind, that’s what keeps our garden green!
The outlook today is very different from a couple of days ago and as I popped out just now to take a photo of the plants I bought whilst at the garden centre, I wasted no time in getting back indoors as quickly as possible because the cold rain was pretty awful!
I popped up to check on the pond, because we’ve turned on the pump and the first few days with the running water usually results in the level dropping a little. Quite often, small leaks develop over the winter and it’s better to keep track of things before we suddenly find an empty hole in the garden! The rain will top it up of course, so probably no worries right now.
I’m happy with the three plants I bought, even if right now they are just sitting there, awaiting my attention and probably the arrival of a few more. Amy has given me some really great ideas for containers and this afternoon I’ll set to and order those so that when the next sunny day comes, I can be ready with my gardening gloves on!
As I set off swimming just after 6am yesterday morning, the sun was still shining and the birds singing. I switched on the voice recorder on my phone as I walked to the gate, unlatched and opened it, fastened it back to the wall and then walked back to the garage to start my car.
I think I can do better, but for now enjoy the sounds of a blustery April morning in Gloucestershire, though on this occasion, mostly my footsteps!
