Sweet times
We already have three of our advent candles lit.
As always, December days fly by, filled with so many good things.
We unpacked the boxes and reacquainted ourselves with the familiar friends we’d last seen almost a year ago.
It’s good to see them here and there about the house.
The Father Christmas figure Bettine made some years ago sits on the window seat awaiting her visit on Christmas Day. I wonder if she will remember him?
She made our hessian nativity set too - looks like we’re a little ahead of ourselves here.
The shepherds are already on their way too!
Our Christmas tree is looking lovely in its usual spot, though we didn’t put the train set out this year because we’re expecting a small four-legged visitor next week.
We’ve kept the lower branches clear of precious bits and pieces for that reason, putting some of our favourite things from around the world well out of reach. Did you spot the Ampelmann?
Yesterday, we were looking forward to an evening with friends, so I decorated the table outside the garden room and lit the candles as the sun went down in the late afternoon.
We made a Feuerzangenbowle with them, enjoying the warmth of their company as always, remembering old times and catching up with the latest.
Although we are all sweet enough, that’s no reason not to overload on lebkuchen, stollen and chocolate is it?
Am I correct in thinking that calories don’t count at Christmas?
