Balance
After the failure of last week’s baking efforts. it was good to be reminded of a recent success! Maybe you remember I made Ed Balls’ Treacle Tart last November, discovering that the recipe made enough for two tarts? That meant that one went in the freezer until today.
It froze beautifully and after a few minutes in the oven came out as well as the first one. In fact, we’d forgotten how delicious it is! There’s a good lemony flavour to offset the sweet treacle and the texture is lighter than you’d think. Best of all, there’s plenty to keep us going for a few days, since there’s no such thing as visitors around here.
No left overs today then!
(Ed Balls is currently taking part in “Best Celebrity Home Cook” and is doing pretty well. We are waiting for him to bring out his treacle tart in one of the shows - perhaps he’s keeping it up his sleeve for the right occasion!?)
