An Elegant Sufficiency

Shopping

I’ve written here before about our weekly Thursday morning shopping trip. We’ve continued in the same routine but last weekend I decided we needed a couple of extras, so I make a quick and very unusual Saturday morning run for them.

Hmmm. Standards are slipping! Wearing pyjamas to the supermarket?! What? (Old enough to know better too, I’d say. What ever would his mother have said?)

This morning we went a wee bit further afield though. A bit of an adventure, in fact.

There was still a queue. A long one.

Standards of dress were certainly higher here - hats being worn no less!

It was almost half an hour before we reached the front of this queue but we’d been kept reasonably well entertained by the goings on in the car park and the light covering kept us relatively cool too.

The good thing was that once inside the nursery, there was plenty of stock and the space to look around without worrying about the need to keep our distance. The whole experience was calm and well organised.

We got what we needed for ourselves and for Bettine and joined the queue again. We’d been there a little more than an hour, two thirds of which had been standing in queues to get in and then get out again. But we were all patient and didn’t mind one bit.

Better to stay safe.
