The Glorious Twelfth

The Glorious Twelfth

We had an invitation to a rather exclusive event last evening.

It was the opening of a new chippy!

Not just any old chippy though, but the new outpost of our favourite, award-winning Simpsons Fish and Chips.

The Siblings were there with free-flowing supplies of their delicious gin and Bottle Green elderflower tonic.  This was a local do!

With G&T in one hand and a "starter" of halloumi fries from the van (cooking gluten-free last evening) we were off to a great start.

The main event soon followed and the kitchen crew were working full tilt to send out enough fish and chips to go round.

Fish and chips in one hand, G&T in the other, what's not to love?!

This morning, we had a couple of errands to run in Cheltenham, where the boards have finally been removed to reveal the new facade of the "Brewery Quarter".  The area around here has been up and running a couple of years (maybe more) but it's taken an age to complete the last link through to the High Street.  I'd like to see those last remaining shops up and running, though with quite a few empty properties around and about the town right now, it could take time.

Our opticians have relocated to bright new premises nearby, thankfully with the same lovely staff as before.   In no time at all, we'd ticked several things from our list.

Time then, to go up the High Street a little further and see how the new John Lewis is progressing.  Set to open "in 2018", hopefully it will bring a lit more footfall to the town centre and in particular, give M&S a bit of a wake up call!

Cheltenham always puts on a great show along the Prom(enade) and this year is no exception.

A jolly night out eating fish and chips, then, followed by a productive morning in town and coffee with friends, the weekend has got off to a good start.  There's fun planned for tomorrow as well - perhaps I could put in a request to turn up the thermostat a couple more degrees, please?

I'll let you know if my request is successful :-)
