St George’s Day
How typically English that, on St George’s Day, we don’t dye the rivers red or make a song and dance about it. Unless you were a Brownie or have some other reason to remember the date, it’s more than likely that the day would pass by uncelebrated, in this house as any other. It isn’t that I’m not proud of my heritage, you understand, it’s just that it’s not very English to crow about such things, is it?
I was pleased to see that Google marked the occasion with a special graphic today though and I took a photo of a red rose for my Project Life journal whilst I was shopping this morning.
However, did someone mention there’s an election coming up soon?
Oh heck.
Shall we celebrate Shakespeare’s birthday (and the anniversary of his death) instead?
